IFRS - Pros And Cons For Investors Samples †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the IFRS - Pros And Cons For Investors. Answer: Introduction: The report is prepared for demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of International financial reporting standards (IFRS) to investors. International financial reporting standards are the standards that are issued by independent organization based in United Kingdom that is International accounting standards boards. It was ascertained that the uniform accounting standard had substantial ignorance of making it mandatory. Agreement about the implementation of important commercial transactions is the fundamental economic functioning of the accounting standards. The integral component between firms and its stakeholders such as lenders, shareholders, suppliers, customers and managers are method used for accounting (Grabinskia et al. 2014). Efforts are made by such organization in narrowing down the gap between accounting standard of different countries and IFRS. Countries under this concept are not required to make the recognition of IFRS standards and can comply their reporting with the standards of respective countries. The discussion of pros and cons of such international standard is done by making reference to the given article international financial reporting standards (IFRS); pros and cons for investors, Accounting and Business Research, International Accounting Policy Forum, pp. 5-27. Discussion: World is witnessing increased integration of politics and markets and that is what making the integration of adoption of accounting standards inevitable. The contracts efficiency between firms and their lender have become more transparent with the implementation of IFRS. The working on convergence project of IFRS comes with the likelihood of addition of this particular standard by almost all countries over the world. There are varieties of potential direct advantages attributable to investors resulting from the widespread international adoption of IFRS (Hagen 2016). Therefore, the advantages that are derived by equity investors from the international standard can be divided into direct and indirect advantages. Comprehensive, accurate and timely information about the financial statements of different reporting entities will be provided to investors using the IFRS platform. Many of the adjustments made in the financials of company would be eliminated with the adoption and this will facilitate comparison between entities and help in providing relevant information to investors. Investors risks pertaining to adverse selection of stock and being les informed will also be eliminated with the help of such international standard (Gallego et al. 2016). Furthermore, IFRS also promises increased transparency and accordingly increasing efficiency between investors and firms. Equity investors will be at advantageous state in terms of reduced cost of capital along with increasing debt market contract efficiency. The ability of investors to make informed financ ial decisions is triggered by the adoption of such standard as it will contribute towards elimination of confusion arising from financial measures used in different countries and using different ways for measuring financial status of reporting entities. Among various investors, the standard will help in creating a fairness and establishment of code of conduct. There will be greater scope for investor to make international investments and the financial resources will be effectively allocated worldwide. Moreover, there will be increased attraction of foreign and institutional investors for making investment in different countries and accordingly this will lead to diversification of the risks by widening their portfolio of stocks (Nastase et al. 2016). It is seen that as the world of business comes closer with the help of globalisation with the help of their trade and financial ties, there are several countries that are moving towards International Financial Standards and the general r ules of accounting that addresses how the transactions need to be reported and what is the kind of information that should be revealed in the financial reports. This unitary set of the standards has rectified the several issues while generating others. The organizations that utilise similar standards in order to construct their financial reports can be compared with one and another in a more accurate manner. This is especially significant when undertaking a comparison among the organizations that are situated in various countries as they may in certain cases may be making use of various methodologies and rules to construct their financial reports. This rise in the level of comparability has assisted the investors to effectively ascertain whether the dollar that has been invested should go. There has been an observation that implementation of IFRS by a nation can have an impact on smaller and the larger companies. Conversely, the small businesses have a greater impact as they do not have significant amount of resources at their disposal to incorporate any transformations and even train their employees. This leads to the smaller organizations appointing accountants either internally or externally in order to assist the changes that have taken place. These small organizations will bear further financial stress than the larger organizations. IFRS makes use of principle based philosophy rather than the rule based one. The principle based philosophy explains that the aim of each of the standard is to reach at a significant valuation and that there are several ways to reach there. This provides the organizations the independence to incorporate IFRS to their specific scenario which leads to more simplified and effective financial reports. Therefore, investors would also be beneficial in terms of their efficient management of their portfolio. Improvement in professional practice of reporting entity to report their financials would help in development of stock market of fewer developing countries. Identified issues as presented in the article: From the analysis of the given article, it can be seen that the crucial issue about the standard implementation is related to the method of fair value accounting as it creates ambiguity as well as irrelevance to investors about financial position of entities. Main issue about the International accounting standard is fair value accounting as it comes with wide range of problems. In practical life, liquidity of market is considered as an important issue. Noise can be created in the financial statements presented in the annual report of reporting entities resulting from creation of substantial uncertainty of fair value due to large spreads. Moreover, the fair value estimates can be manipulated by managers in an illiquid market by making an influence on quoted as well as traded prices of shares of entities. During major financial crisis, the standard has failed to test the fair value accounting concept and making lenders discover fair value as fair weather value (Persons 2014). Fair valu e accounting provides information to investors by incorporating that is more accurate and timely about losses and gains on derivatives, securities and other transactions mentioned in the financial statements. Under the IFRS, earnings of companies will be more informative and hence in contradiction there will be more volatility and difficulties in forecasting. Many reporting entities does not make the estimation of actual arms length market price and report the estimated market price when there is unavailability of liquid market price (Jones 2015). In such situation, there arises an imperfect pricing model by the introduction of model noise and consequently imperfect estimation of several parameters of models. Fair value accounting drift in IFRS is the factor that will accentuate the extent of adoption and that are dependent upon judgement of managers and auditors. In many countries, the implementation of concepts of fair value accounting in the IFRS is associated with encountering of several problems such as widespread, illiquidity and involvement of subjectivity in making estimates in mark to model. The countries that will be weak in enforcement of such standard are the ones that have poor information about the reasons behind impairment of assets and have greater room for exercising judgement about fair value. The opportunities for manipulation by managers increase when the stimulation of market price is done by the accounting method of mark to model. This is so because the estimates of parameters and choice of models is determined by managers. However, considerable faith has been placed in the concept of fair value accounting rules of IFRS and accordingly there is an effort on the development of conceptual framework in joint association with IASB and FASB. It is depicted from the article provided that there is uneven enforcement of IFRS around different countries of world due to overwhelming economic and political reasons. International standard cannot be regarded as international standards because of inevitability considerable international differences in quality and practice of financial reporting. One of the concerns that have arisen is misleading of investors in believing about the uniformity in practice due to widespread adoption of IFRS (Scott 2015). In actual practice, there will n ot be such uniformity observed with the implementation of the standard and it will remain hidden under the seemingly factor of uniformly adoption of standard. Furthermore, the ability of uniform standard adoption to reduce the risk and cost associated with the information is curtailed by such uneven implementation. In addition to this, transnational investors could experience increased cost of information processing due to uneven standard implementation (Lukka and Pihlanto 2014). This is so because the accounting inconsistencies and transparency level will be buried at deeper level due to difference in standard across countries. The article throws light on the fact that the issue regarding the implementation of IFRS standard is far away from public sight and has not received substantial attention. Adoption decision of IFRS at the national level is most visibly impacted by political and economic decisions (Mayer 2016). One of the vital implications in this particular area of research on the IFRS implementation is that the endogenous functions of political, local and economic institutions is the factor that is responsible for contributing to differences in international reporting standards. The actual reporting behaviours of companies will not be changed in material fashion due to importing of exogenously industrial set of accounting standards (Nastase et al. 2016). IASB does not have any implementation mechanisms for making countries adapt to IFRS and they cannot enforce the requirement of practicing such standard. Article also focuses on some long-term concerns is using the brand name of IFRS in an unfettered way. Implementation of IFRS is perceived as signal of quality for the companies adapting to such reporting standards. Implication and adoption of IFRS has not been clarified in the presence of local and political problems having considerable influence on reporting practice. The adoption of IFRS to lower quality countries need to incur lower costs due to factors such as wholesale adoption of the standard and regimes of lower quality that has the likelihood of incurring fewer political and economic costs (Level and Schndube 2014). It is essential for such countries to adopt the brand name of the standard due to emergence of classic free rider problems. Incorporation of fair value accounting in the IFRS is another concern is relation to reporting system in countries that are less developed (Nurunnabi 2016). Adoption of IFRS by companies is a political and economic experiment and there is yet to be clarified on the various pros and cons to investors with the implementation of such standard. Conclusion: This report has therefore looked to explain the pros and the cons of the investors that are in accordance to the International Financial Reporting Standards. The report has looked to recognise the issues that have been presented in the concerned article. The implementation of IFRS in several nations is dependent on the social, economic and political factors and the variations in these standards are due to these factors too. The incorporation of IFRS acts as a signal of quality for the companies and thereby makes the financial reports of the companies much more effective. The report has therefore looked to generate a critical thinking and a technical research on the pros and cons for the investors in accordance to the implementation of International financial reporting standards. It is known that market liquidity is a significant issue and therefore any kind of discrepancy that is observed in the financial reports of the companies generally due to the uncertainty in the fair value. Th e key factor for such issues has been manipulations that have been made by the management and therefore this is one of the cons for the investors. The incorporation of the standards can be helpful in mitigating these issues and thereby a much fair and true statement can be constructed with the help of which the investors can be benefitted. The report has therefore explained the article explicitly. References: Baxter, W.T., 2014. Accounting theory (Vol. 3). Routledge. The Yellow Wallpaper †Journey into Insanity Essay Thesis Example For Students

The Yellow Wallpaper – Journey into Insanity Essay Thesis The Yellow Wallpaper Journey into InsanityIn The Yellow Wallpaper, by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, thedominant/submissive relationship between an oppressive husband and hissubmissive wife pushes her from depression into insanity. Flawed human nature seems to play a great role in her breakdown. Herhusband, a noted physician, is unwilling to admit that there might really besomething wrong with his wife. This same attitude is seen in her brother, whois also a physician. While this attitude, and the actions taken because of it,certainly contributed to her breakdown; it seems to me that there is arebellious spirit in her. Perhaps unconsciously she seems determined to provethem wrong. As the story begins, the woman whose name we never learn tells of herdepression and how it is dismissed by her husband and brother. You see, hedoes not believe I am sick! And what can one do? If a physician of highstanding, and ones own husband, assures friends and relatives that there isreally nothing the matter with one but temporary nervous depression a slighthysterical tendency what is one to do? (Gilman 193). These two men bothdoctors seem completely unable to admit that there might be more to hercondition than than just stress and a slight nervous condition. Even when asummer in the country and weeks of bed-rest dont help, her husband refuses toaccept that she may have a real problem. Throughout the story there are examples of the dominant submissiverelationship. She is virtually imprisoned in her bedroom, supposedly to allowher to rest and recover her health. She is forbidden to work, So I . . . amabsolutely forbidden to work until I am well again. (Gilman 193). She is noteven supposed to write: There comes John, and I must put this away he hatesto have me write a word. (Gilman 194). She has no say in the location or decor of the room she is virtuallyimprisoned in: I dont like our room a bit. I wanted . . . But John would nothear of it. (Gilman 193). She cant have visitors: It is so discouraging not to have any advice andcompanionship about my work. . . but he says he would as soon put fireworks inmy pillow-case as to let me have those stimulating people about now. (Gilman196). Probably in large part because of her oppression, she continues to decline. I dont feel as if it was worthwhile to turn my hand over for anything. . .(Gilman 197). It seems that her husband is oblivious to her declining conditon, since he never admits she has a real problem until the end of the story atwhich time he fainted. John could have obtained council from someone less personally involved inher case, but the only help he seeks was for the house and baby. He obtains ananny to watch over the children while he was away at work each day: It isfortunate Mary is so good with the baby. (Gilman 195). And he had his sisterJennie take care of the house. She is a perfect and enthusiastic housekeeper.(Gilman 196). He does talk of taking her to an expert: John says if I dont pick upfaster he shall send me to Weir Mitchell in the fall. But she took that as athreat since he was even more domineering than her husband and brother. Not only does he fail to get her help, but by keeping her virtually aprisoner in a room with nauseating wallpaper and very little to occupy her mind, let alone offer any kind of mental stimulation, he almost forces her to dwell onher problem. Prison is supposed to be depressing, and she is pretty close tobeing a prisoner. .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 , .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .postImageUrl , .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 , .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:hover , .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:visited , .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:active { border:0!important; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:active , .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740 .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u36ee4f820ca96e82813b41727c3e6740:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Mona Recinos EssayPerhaps if she had been allowed to come and go and do as she pleased herdepression might have lifted: I think sometimes that if I were only wellenough to write a little it would relieve the press of ideas and rest me.(Gilman 195). It seems that just being able to tell someone how she really feltwould have eased her depression, but John wont hear of it. The lack of anoutlet caused the depression to worsen: . . . I must say what I feel and thinkin some way it is such a relief! But the effort is getting to be greaterthan the relief. (Gilman 198). Meanwhile her reaction is to seek to prove him wrong. John is a physician, and perhaps . . . perhaps that is one reason I do not get well faster. You seehe does not believe I am sick! And what can one do? (Gilman 193). It seemsto me that while putting on an appearance of submission she was frequentlyrebelling against her husbands orders. She writes when there is nobody aroundto see her, she tries to move her bed, but always keeps an eye open for someonecomming. This is obvious throughout the story. It also seems to me that, probably because of his oppressive behaviour, shewants to drive her husband away. John is away all day, and even some nightswhen his cases are serious. I am glad my case is not serious! (Gilman 195). As her breakdown approaches she actually locks him out of her room: I havelocked the door and thrown the key down into the front path. I dont want to goout, and I dont want to have anybody come in, till John comes. I want toastonish him. (Gilman 203). I see no reason for this other than to force himto see that he was wrong, and, since she knew he couldnt tolerate hysteria, todrive him away. Works CitedGilman, Charlotte Perkins. Oedipus

â€Å"Oedipus is punished not for any fault in himself, but for his ignorance. Not knowing his family history, unable to recognize his parents on sight, he is blameless; and in slaying his father and marrying his mother, he behaves as any sensible person might behave in the same circumstances.† I agree with the above interpretation.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Oedipus specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This is because were it not been for his ignorance about his family history, Oedipus would have known his family. As such, he is blameless on account of his ignorance. I would therefore not be so quick as to blame Oedipus because if I were in his shoes, I would probably have acted in the same way. Although the death of his father signifies his own downfall, nonetheless, one could argue that Oedipus acted in self-defense, in that he was attacked unexpectedly while travelling alone and out of fear of losing his life, he kills them all but one. These were violent times and as such, a man was expected to defend himself in case of an attack, and more so while travelling alone in far off lands. Any sensible man would have done the same, under the circumstances. The punishment that Oedipus receives largely stems from his ignorance. Oedipus should have been wiser enough to heed the warnings of Teiresias. We can therefore say that Oedipus somehow pursued his own death. For example, he had been warned a couple of times to desist from attacking people who were ready to surrender but he could hear none of it, for his desire to be a man. Although Oedipus was a brave, wise man who sought the truth relentlessly, of sound judgement and had the capacity to â€Å"see beyond the obvious† (Regal 19), nonetheless, all these assets proved worthless as he fell victim to a heinous fate-he killed his own father without his knowledge and later on married his mother. Despite the many dimensions taken by the play, it has a central moral dilemma in which we are called to question whether we are in a position to shrug off the responsibility bestowed upon us when short-sightedness and avoidable ignorance forces us to do great harm. For someone who little knowledge about the play, there is the possibility of presuming that Oedipus had improper lust. However, he did not kill his father out of lust for his mother. He was brought up by foster parents, the queen and king of Corinth. He never knew that he was an adopted child, or that his true biological parents were Jocasat and Laius.Advertising Looking for essay on literature languages? Let's see if we can help you! All this time, however, Oedipus was innocent. One might argue that he portrayed unacceptable motives but on the basis of the Judeo-Christian moral standards, he was morally innocent because he was not aware that the men on the road were the king (his biological father) and his aides. To him, they were nothing more than a band of rude, ordinary men, and he had to defend himself. Even if we assume that Oedipus’ actions were morally innocent, can we also assume that he was also blameless for our practical purposes? One might argue that Oedipus could and should have done better. This is because he had received warning on several occasions. It had been prophesied that Oedipus would kill his own father and that he would later on marry his mother. Oedipus chose to ignore the prophecy. Instead, he fled to Corinth as a way of escaping the predicted misdeeds. Even while escaping, Corinth thought that the King and queen of Corinth were his birth parents. In a way, he was uprooting his life from the culture he was used to, to that of Corinth. On his way to Corinth, he encountered with and killed his ow n father, against his knowledge. If Oedipus had taken the prophecy seriously, he could also have wished to question his own view of reality and this might have prompted him to further interpret the unfolding events. He even ignored the prophecy of Teiresias, the esteemed blind prophet whose revelation had indicated that Oedipus would indeed kill Laius, his real father, and then marry his mother. Although he acted violently by killing his own father, among the Greeks, the most admired heroes were expected to put on a brave face even when facing death in the eye. According to the description provided regarding the killing, neither party could be accused of being strictly guilty of the brawl that ensured, in which Oedipus murdered his father. Oedipus is not a damned, stupid, cursed, or afflicted man, and neither did he have a complex. He was nothing more than an ordinary man blessed with an extraordinary passion to know the truth. He was also caught in an inherently deceptive and intri cate situation in which an exceptional ability and good intentions to see through riddles were not enough to overcome an increase in misdeeds. buy custom Prevention of Surgical Site Infection essay

buy custom Prevention of Surgical Site Infection essay Surgical site infection is the state of the operation wound becoming infected with germs and therefore posing great danger to the patient in question. This kind of infection is a major cause of many diseases that sprouts up after a surgical operation. Notably, about 1-3% of all nosocomial infections are attributed to the surgical site infection for a clean surgery. Therefore most healthcare associated infections which are common in surgical wards pose so many problems to both the infected patients and also to the hospital in general. These may include high mortality rate recordings in the hospital, there is also extended stay in the hospital by the patients which is generally expensive and in some cases, and the patient can even develop a permanent disability. Therefore surgical associated infections are of great concern and strict measures should be taken to ensure that they are minimized. The cases of infection varies with surgeons in concern, hospitals, surgical procedures and mor e so the patient. The infections on the site may be classified into: organs, incisional- can be deep or superficial (Bland, 2006). The most important factor to be installed in the aim of preventing postsurgical site infection is the use of reasonable judgment and the use of proper techniques used by the surgeon and their teams. The only way available to prevent the surgical site infections is by possibly reducing the risk factors that can highly contribute to these infections. The operation room should have high levels of cleanness and it should me maintained at low level of microorganisms if not none. The operation or the surgical team must also maintain high levels of cleanliness during the operation (Schechter-Perkins, 2011). The state of health of the patient before the operation must also be highly considered. The patients must be screened for any possible presence of other health problems before the operation is performed. Presence of any other infection or diseases before the surgery if not taken into account can result to the surgical site not healing well. For example if an operation is performed on a Diabetes patient and yet the condition is not known and hence it has not been put under control, there is a greater possibility that the wound might not heal which poses a health risk to the patient (Tabolt, 2005). Therefore such conditions must be tested for and if present, they must be put into manageable levels to prevent the adverse from happening (Wascher, 2010 ). All the surgical equipments to be used must be new or if that is impossible, for equipments that can be sterilized, they should be well treated to ensure no trces of bacteria are present in them before being used. Operation gowns are another point of concern since they must be disinfected before being provided to the operation client so as to minimize the risk of them having micro organisms during the operation. It is also wise not to remove the hair on the site of operation unless there is a possibility of it messing up with the operation procedures. If the removal of hair must be done then proper care must be taken as it should be removed by being clipped. This is because when the hair in operation site is removed, there is possibilities of exposing it to micro organisms which may latter bring complications after the surgery. For better success, it is advisable the hair be removed immediately when the operation is to commence. It is also advisable for patients to use antimicrobial soaps before the surgery, preferably one night before in order to detach the microorganisms that might be present on the skin (Bennett-Guerrero, 2005 ). Prolonged hospitalization before an operation is a major risk factor that makes the patients susceptible to surgical related infections. When patients have been hospitalized for a long time waiting for an operation, they are exposed to the hospital flora; these in many situations include some airborne organisms that might even have become multi drug resistant. This risk should be brought under control by making sure that all presurgical tests are completed. The exposure to these micro organisms can be reduced by performing the surgery in ambulatory centers as opposed to the hospitals where acute care is provided to sick patients, this implies separation of surgery unit from the other hospital environment. The time spent during and after the surgery should be minimal time possible, this is because that the prolonged duration of surgery, the more the microorganisms gains chances into the open wound. Also the patients should be discharged immediately after an operation for them to have access to home care. Anti microbial agent should be carefully administered and should go in line with the published method of usage since different antimicrobial agents are available for different microorganisms and if a weak one is used it might not lessen the risk. It is also worthy to note that the antimicrobial agents can be administered by the form of intravenous way and if this method is adopted it must be administered in a timely manner such that before the incision takes place, that the tissue can not be infected easily. It should be noted that the therapeutic levels must be maintained throughout the operation and even short duration after the operation (Nicolas, 20007). The proposed incision site must be well propped with strong antiseptic solutions in order to help keeping microorganisms from moving to the open site in the event that the towels used in surgery gets wet. This is a key measure since if the micro organisms are present in the place surrounding the site they may have their access into the wound and as a result, they may cause severe infection to the wound. Proper surgical techniques must be adopted in order to reduce the risk of infection. When the methods used by the surgery team are of high quality, excessive bleeding is controlled, tissue trauma is minimized, there is definite removal of dead body tissues and the chance of foreign bodies entering the body are minimal. It also ensures that blood circulation is controlled and there is total blood oxygenation of blood. Therefore, during the surgery tissues should be handled with maximum care in order to minimize the chances of tissues dying. The surgeon must make sure to use methods that do not cause death of tissues during the operation. For instance there should be minimal use of electrocautely. Closed suctions should be used in order to prevent the tissue fluid from accumulating in the site. This is particularly important to those surgical patients that are obese. The use of permanent suture should be avoided and instead the one that is absorbable be used due to the fact that, it re duces the number of microorganisms that can generate a post operation infection (Keogh, 2008). The rate of infection after the surgery can be minimized by the use of antibiotics. Though antibiotics are significant in reducing the risk, their admissibility depends on the patient in question and the toxic and allergic levels of the drug. The patients must be checked for the case allergic reaction with the antibiotic to be administered. It might be vital for the cost and the number of bacteria resistant to the antibiotics when choosing it. Therefore, antibiotics should be administered in the cases that there is suspected to be high rates of infection and also where if any infection occurs, it can be serious and far put the life of the patient to the risk (Abdel-Haleim, 210). It is therefore wise for the surgery team to be aware that complications can arise and if so they must perform all the preventative measures in order to reduce the infection occurrence. Also the patients must be advised to take care before the operation. They are also supposed to disclose all the health facts concerning their past health experience. All these must be considered if at all rate of infections are to be minimized or brought down to manageable levels. Buy custom Prevention of Surgical Site Infection essay

DQ7 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

DQ7 - Essay Example For example, it is a common practice in business that the quotations or estimates submitted for a project tapped by the competitors using false means. They will utilize the information in the tapped documents for their advantages while submitting their quotations for the same project. In a highly professional business world such things may not be considered as a sin. But ethically it is not a good practice since such practices may result in unhealthy competition which will be harmful to the overall business activities. A company which follows strong ethical standards in their business will never go after such undercutting methods and we can conclude that normal decisions and moral decisions are entirely different in the current world in general and in the business world in specific. Morality is a social invention which is essential for the sustainability of a society. We cannot think of a society which is filled with immoral activities, survive for a long period. For example, if robbery is legally allowed in a society to tackle poverty, what will happen? Thus moral decisions are always different from the rational decisions. Information is one of the main segments of an organization. It is often said that man, material, machine and money (4M’s) are the four major components required for the smooth functioning of an organization. In fact information is equally important with the above mentioned 4M’s of business. Like all the other resources of an organization, information of a company needs to be protected well for the business growth. It is easy for the competitors to devise strategies well in advance to counter the innovative and challenging business strategies of an organization, if the secret information of the company leaked via the managers or some other employees of the organization. The managers have a variety of the information regarding the future plans of an organization. It is necessary to keep such information as secrets for the well

Measures of Healthy Urbinisation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Measures of Healthy Urbinisation - Essay Example United nation has also studied the migration trend of people and has made a forecast about the world population by the year 2030. According to the forecast report the world population is expected to increase by 2 billion by the year 2030 and out of total increase of 2 billion people 1.9 billion people are expected to live in cities (United Nations: World Urbanization Prospectus, 2000). The shift in population from rural to cities and towns will also be responsible for certain health affects and it will be interesting to know the impact of urbanization on health issues. Actually there are various factors that might influence the health outcomes and an old study have indicated the social and economical factors are responsible for poor health outcomes (Faris & Dunham, 1939). In the present study a few positive and negative health outcomes from urbanization have been summarized. The finding of different researchers varies for a specific health outcome and if the impact is positive for a city it is not necessarily be the same for another city. A few key factors have also been identified and debated that in my opinion are essential requirement for healthy urbanization. Health in cities during 19th and 20th century: Some researchers assumed that some of the factors such as population density, pollution, and crime in cities deteriorated health during the early 19th century (Power et al, 2001) and at the same time a lack in mental fitness level especially in rural non-metropolitan areas in Australia is debated (Fraser et al, 2002). Many Asian scholars and researchers considered that the urban population is linked to the poor health especially in early 19th century (Lee, 2001). All these medical and health professionals, researchers and scholars started investigating the urban living conditions and the relationship between the health and the surrounding conditions. With the improvement of living conditions in some of the developing cities especially the sanitary conditions, the researchers found a tremendous improvement in health conditions in many European and North American cities (Hamblin, 1998). The other major conditions responsible for improving health conditions include the improvement in drinking water and immunization of population for infections. Health conditions in cities started improving by the end of nineteenth century or early 20th century and people in cities today have better health conditions than the non-urban areas. Some of the cities in specific regions of the world growing at faster pace and therefore it is really a challenge for the government officials to provide better sanitation, drinking water and housing to the new migrants so that health in general do not deteriorate here. Main Challenges for civic authorities: In my opinion the main challenge for civic authorities is to control the infectious diseases that generally starts within the cities and spread out quickly from one city to another. In the recent past we have seen many infectious diseases spreading at different intervals in different part of the world. Such infectious diseases including bird flue, SARS, HIV and malaria are more common and have posed threats to the large number of people in our society. Although bird flue and SARS were controlled quickly, however the dangers in near future cannot be ruled out. HIV is a killer health problem. A complete

The Five Kingdoms of Organism Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

The Five Kingdoms of Organism - Term Paper Example Some organisms have the ability to produce their food via photosynthesis. The organisms found under Kingdom Monera are very small. The organisms in Monera do not have chloroplasts or any of the other well-known organelles. Typically, organisms in this kingdom are very tiny. A good example of an organism classified in Kingdom Monera is the blue, green algae, which looks like algae. Kingdom Monera can be divided into Eubacteria and Archaebacteria. Eubacteria refers to a group of bacteria that have simple cells and rigid cells walls. Most of the bacteria use flagella for locomotion. Eubacteria incudes cyanobacteria and true bacteria. On the other hand, Archaebacteria refers to simple living organisms that have the same size as bacteria but are different to bacteria in terms of molecular organization. It among the largest Kingdoms in the classification of living things because of the abundance of plants. Kingdom Plantae is made of all plant species that exist on planet earth. The classification has been made based on their similarities and differences (Black 263). The organisms found in Kingdom Plantae are all eukaryotes. They have all the organelles and a nuclear membrane. They have chloroplasts, which are essential for photosynthesis. Most organisms are autotrophs while a few are both autotrophs and heterotrophs. They are primary food producers in the food chain. Plant cells have cells walls that are mainly made of cellulose. They can grow via cell division. Plants possess a developed vascular transport system. They possess organs and organ system. They can defend attacks from fungi and animals. Plants lack motility. They are not mobile, which means the cannot change locations via self-induced movement. The following is a typical plant cell. The organisms in Kingdom Plantae have been divided further into classes based on the presence of a vascular tissue,
